Prenergy (Rubau) is officially approved as an energy company for the MES BARCELONA project

The RUBAU GROUP, by setting an example of its commitment to the ecological transition and sustainable development, has been officially approved as an energy company investing in the MES Barcelona project that the city council of the Catalan capital is working on.

The 2030 Agenda is the roadmap of the public policies of the city and, with the MES Barcelona project, the City Council of Barcelona promotes investment projects together with private investors to speed up the energy transition in the city. The objective is to favour the generation of photovoltaic power and it focuses on projects for large areas (roofs of industrial warehouses, logistics, office buildings, etc.), along with rooftops and the terraces of residential buildings. Furthermore, it hopes to invest in energy rehabilitation projects for buildings with high energy consumption, such as hospitals, hotels and sports centres, and it also intends to invest in projects that promote innovation in the renewable energy sector and citizens’ participation.

MES Barcelona is a public-private financial co-investment mechanism (PPP), through which the City Council of Barcelona allocates €50M to investment projects presented by officially approved investors that have experience in photovoltaic systems and energy rehabilitation. The RUBAU GROUP, thanks to the recent creation of its subsidiary PRENERGY, the company that comes up with all-round solutions in the energy sector, which are always associated with the circular economy and sustainability, has been officially approved by the City Council to take part as a co-investor that specializes in the financing, the design, the construction and the maintenance of renewable energy generation systems and the refurbishment of buildings based on energy efficiency.
